I primarily use cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which is considered the gold standard treatment for chronic sleep challenges. CBT-I is highly effective and relatively brief, with most clients concluding treatment within 8-10 sessions.
CBT-I works by strengthening your body’s natural sleep rhythm and addressing behaviors and thought patterns that interfere with restful sleep. Together, we will develop practical, sustainable strategies that help improve sleep consistency and quality while reducing the frustration or anxiety that often develop around sleep problems.
CBT-I can also help reduce reliance on sleep medications, in collaboration with their prescribing provider. Research has consistently shown CBT-I to produce stronger and more sustained improvements in sleep compared to medication alone.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N) is an evidence-based treatment designed to reduce the frequency and intensity of distressing dreams. CBT-N is commonly used to treat recurrent nightmares related to stress, trauma, or other sleep disruptions, and can help people regain a sense of safety and control around sleep.
CBT-N works by addressing the mental and emotional patterns that contribute to recurring nightmares. Treatment may include techniques such as imagery rehearsal, cognitive strategies for reducing nighttime fear and hyperarousal, and behavioral approaches that help restore a sense of predictability and calm during sleep.
Many clients experience meaningful reductions in nightmares within a relatively short period of time. In addition to improving sleep quality, CBT-N can help reduce nighttime anxiety, improve daytime functioning, and make sleep feel restorative again.

In addition to sleep-focused treatment, I work with clients experiencing anxiety and depression using evidence-based approaches grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My approach tends to work especially well for clients who appreciate a clear, goal-oriented, and skills-based style of therapy.
These therapies focus on understanding the patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that can maintain anxiety or low mood. Treatment is collaborative and structured, helping clients develop practical skills for managing difficult thoughts, regulating emotions, and building behaviors that support wellbeing and resilience.
CBT and ACT emphasize strategies that can be applied in daily life, such as learning how to respond differently to unhelpful thought patterns, reducing avoidance, and taking meaningful action aligned with personal values. Over time, these skills can help reduce distress while increasing flexibility, confidence, and engagement with life.
Clients are welcome to seek therapy for anxiety or depression whether or not they are also experiencing sleep concerns. Because sleep and mental health are closely connected, we can also address sleep patterns when relevant as part of treatment.
